Experience
While working for SB Tietz and Partners, progressed from Graduate Engineer to Senior Associate, gaining experience in many types of construction and responsible for design and co-ordination of numerous projects both in the Public and Private sectors. Projects included office and commercial developments, industrial buildings, infrastructure design for housing estates, laboratories, schools and student accommodation, refurbishment and restoration of Listed Buildings. Work on contaminated sites and waste transfer stations. Experienced in temporary works for façade retention and deep foundation construction, including working for Contractors. Joined Clark Smith Partnership in 1992 and was the Director responsible for the design coordination of a wide range of Projects.
A varied selection of projects include:
Structural appraisal and partial reconstruction of a substantial building, with a floor area of 23,000m² at 50 Berkeley Street, Mayfair, London for The Burford Group.
Design of a New Combined Heat and Power Station for Citigen Limited in Charterhouse Street, London.
Temporary works, deep basement, new RC framed construction in Listed Building
The design of a high quality residential development in Hampstead.
The design of numerous industrial warehouses for the Port of Tilbury, including three warehouses with a combined area of 65,000m² for the storage of paper.
Structural surveys and design for refurbishment of Café Rouge and Dome restaurants for Pelican Group.
Refurbishment and alterations to Listed buildings.
Worked on many Design and Construct projects both directly for the client and for the Contractors.
Joined Michael Alexander in 2006 as Director and is currently responsible for office and commercial developments, industrial buildings, infrastructure and foundation design for housing estates and structural alterations for refurbishment projects.
Site experience on a wide variety of other projects has been gained during the course of his professional career.
Professional Development and Technical Skills
Worked with many Structural Analysis and draughting programs including AutoCad, STAAD, QSE, Corus Software, RAM Structural System, MicroDrainage and Masterseries. Attends technical seminars arranged through the Institution of Structural Engineers and Institution of Civil Engineers and in-house seminars
